How jeweller rates moved today

Jewellers change their rates slowly instead of following the bullion market minute by minute. That is why shop rates take time to catch up with the benchmark, whether prices go up or down. The lowest listed 22K rate is Jos Alukkas at ₹13,220 per gram, and the highest is ₹14,528 per gram.

Why the jeweller rate is higher than the benchmark

A benchmark rate is the value of the metal alone. A jeweller's rate is a shop price, so it also includes import duty, state taxes, refining, transport, insurance and the shop's own profit. On top of that you still pay making charges, usually 8% to 28% of the gold value, plus 3% GST on the gold and 5% GST on the making charges.

What are the gold rates in different Indian cities today?

Local rates for 10 grams, 21 August 2026. City rates come from local bullion associations, so they are different from the national benchmark above.

Delhi has the highest 24K rate today at ₹1,50,680. Bangalore is the lowest at ₹1,50,393.

Why did gold prices drop today, and what's the market sentiment?

Gold fell because traders booked profits after recent gains and the US dollar got stronger overnight. When the dollar is strong, gold costs more for buyers using other currencies, so demand usually softens.

Frequently asked questions

What is the gold rate today, 21 August 2026?

24-carat gold is ₹1,39,083 per 10 grams and 22-carat gold is ₹1,27,493 per 10 grams on the national benchmark. That is ▲₹1,125 (0.82%) from 20 August 2026. 18-carat gold is ₹1,04,312 per 10 grams.

Which city has the highest gold rate today?

Delhi has the highest 24K rate today at ₹1,50,680 per 10 grams, while Bangalore has the lowest at ₹1,50,393. A city rate is a metal reference; what you pay in a shop will be higher after making charges and GST.

Why did gold prices drop today?

Gold fell because traders booked profits after recent gains and the US dollar got stronger overnight. When the dollar is strong, gold costs more for buyers using other currencies, so demand usually softens.

How do I calculate the final price of gold jewellery?

Multiply today's per-gram rate for your purity by the net gold weight, add the making charge (usually 8% to 28% of the gold value), then add 3% GST on the gold value and 5% GST on the making charges.

Which jeweller has the lowest gold rate today?

Jos Alukkas lists the lowest 22K rate at ₹13,220 per gram, while the highest is ₹14,528 per gram. But the gold rate is only part of the cost. A jeweller with a lower rate and a higher making charge can still cost you more overall.

Is 916 gold the same as 22 carat?

Yes. The 916 hallmark means 91.6 grams of pure gold in every 100 grams of the mix, which is 22 carat. 24 carat is 99.9% pure and is used for coins and bars instead of jewellery.
